Ridley Scott’s epic film Gladiator returns to Rome in an extraordinary format: Hans Zimmer’s legendary soundtrack will be performed live while the film is screened on a large screen. The Orchestra and Chorus of Rome’s Opera House will present the cine-concert at Circo Massimo on July 3 and 4, 2026.
Live music and cinema in ancient Rome

The cine-concert combines the cinematic experience with the power of live music at one of Rome’s most evocative locations. Hans Zimmer’s Oscar-winning score will come to life under the direction of Ludwig Wicki, featuring vocal soloist Lisa Gerrard, who contributed to the film’s original soundtrack.
Chorus Master Ciro Visco will lead the Opera di Roma Chorus in this production that promises to transport audiences to ancient Rome through the combination of epic images and live music. The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles.
