When it rains in Rome it is not so nice to visit the open-air museums. These are especially the Coliseum, the Palatine, the Roman Forum, Castel Sant’Angelo, the Baths of Caracalla and the Villa dei Quintili. It is also risky, to visit the viewpoints and the villas.

You can do that when raining in Rome:

1. The Vatican

The Vatican Museums and the St. Peter’s can be visited very well even when it rains. For access to St. Peter’s, you should book the preferred entry. The other three Papal Basilicas in Rome can be visited very well without a long wait.

2. Roman museums

The most Roman museums are covered. The most important museums are the Capitoline museums, the Trajan’s Markets and Borghese Gallery.

3. The Pantheon

It is particularly impressive in the Pantheon in the rain. The rain falls through the dome opening and runs off through the processes in the soil. If you have the opportunity to visit the Pantheon in the rain, you should not miss it!

4. Ostia

Even though it rains in Rome in summer, the weather on the seaside can be nice. Check the weather forecast and decide if you want to spend a day in Ostia Antica and at the sea. 5. The catacombs
